Call for papers

Gender Workshop Series VIII (2017/2018)

Until 26 September, 2017

For the past seven years, the Gender Workshops at the Centre for Social Studies have been open spaces for debate seeking to explore the epistemological potential of feminist perspectives in understanding social life. These have been approached from different social, political and cultural contexts, focusing on the dialogue between different disciplines and areas of research. During each session, speakers present and discuss a topic, intersecting with their own research or professional and civic activity. At large, the presentation is based on texts or other means of reflection previously available, followed by a discussion with the audience.

This VIII series intends to consolidate the participation in the series to all those interested in presenting papers with proposals for reflection from the most diverse fields of knowledge that are relevant towards the broadening of debates in the field of feminist theory and critical analysis of different contexts and case studies in the specific areas and, transversally, in the multiple strands of feminisms.

We, therefore, call for the submission of papers to be presented at CES between the months of October 2017 and May 2018, on the last Thursday of each month.

Those interested should send a title and abstract (up to 250 words) as well as a biographical note (up to 150 words) to gw@ces.uc.pt until September 26, 2017, also specifying the months in which they are available to present the lecture (at least 2).

The selection of proposals will be headed by the Scientific Coordination of the GW, as follows: Ana Lúcia Santos, Ana Oliveira, Catarina Martins, Luciana Moreira Silva and Teresa Cunha.

The results will be disclosed by email on September 29.
