António Carvalho


Biography

Antonio Carvalho holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Exeter, where he studied under the supervision of Andrew Pickering. His doctoral dissertation "Performing Meditation: Vipassana and Zen as technologies of the self" analyzed the entanglements of technology, subjectivity and ontology. He is currently interested in the associations between ecology and nonmodern selfhood; in the dissemination of mindfulness research and practice in the western world and in the multiple ontologies and sociotechnical imaginaries of the Anthropocene.
