Who can apply
1. Master's degree holders or legal equivalent;

2. Assistant lecturers who have been approved in educational aptitude and scientific capacity tests.

3. Undergraduate degree holders, with a particularly relevant academic of scientific curriculum, recognized by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Arts as attesting the capacity for attending this study cycle;

4. Academic of scientific or professional curriculum holders, recognized by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Arts as attesting the capacity for attending this study cycle.

The accreditation referred to in points b) and c) of the preceding number merely allows the access to a study cycle leading to a doctor degree and does not confer its holder any equivalence to an undergraduate or master's degree nor the recognition of that degree.

Required documentation

Copy of identity card, (i.e. unauthenticated), citizen’s card or passport (MANDATORY);
Motivation letter explaining the candidate’s reasons for applying to the doctoral programme (MANDATORY);
Curriculum Vitae in EUROPASS format (MANDATORY); (http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu)
Academic certificate with correspondent final classifications (MANDATORY for accreditation or evaluation purposes, except for former UC students);
Certificate proving the curricular units’ approval and correspondent final classifications (MANDATORY for accreditation or evaluation purposes, except for former UC students);
Workload and syllabus for the degree held by the candidate (MANDATORY for accreditation or evaluation purposes, except for students holding a degree from FLUC);
Two reference letters (MANDATORY).

Observation: Observation: In case students are drawn  from foreign higher education systems, the above-mentioned documents must be certified by the Portuguese local consular official and/or legalized by the apostille system, under the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents (Hague Convention) and in case these are written in a foreign language that not in Spanish, French or English, a translated version must be submitted. Translations shall be duly certified by the competent authorities for the purpose.

Evaluation criteria:
a)
Classification obtained in the presented degree (4/10)

b) Academic, scientific and professional curriculum (5/10)

c) Assessment of the candidate's profile through the motivation letter (1/10).
