Growing and Aging
Health, participation and society

Each year, in November during the Science and Technology Week, universities, scientific institutions, schools, associations and museums open their doors to make notice of activities being developed, through direct contact with audiences. In 2007, CES associated itself with the National Agency Ciência viva, organizing an event on  Hip-Hop and Art in the Suburbs (in Portugal and Brazil), addressing young students of the Instituto Técnico e Artístico Profissional de Coimbra (ITAP).

What does growing mean? And aging?
Which transformations occur in our brain throughout life?
How is aging seen in our society?

Regarding the Science and Technology Week – 2008, promoted by the National Agency Ciência Viva, the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra and the Institute for Molecular Medicine, University of Lisbon, associated themselves organizing a conference and a multidisciplinary debate addressed to school public and general public. The event we propose aims analyzing issues concerning growth and aging, setting forth from several approaches, namely from life sciences and social sciences.
