CES has increased and diversified its outreach activities towards broader audiences, resulting from its engagement in promoting and supporting scientific culture and citizenship initiatives.

One of the most prolific areas of activity is the organization of training courses, intended to specialized audiences, such as legal and judicial professions, or to a more general audience. Additionally, recent years were a crucial period for the expansion and consolidation of Biblioteca Norte/Sul - B N/S (North/South Library), which has become fundamental for post-graduate students, as well as national and international researchers visiting CES, the university community and all interested professions. Wishing to meet a broad community of audiences, the Biblioteca Norte/Sul - B N/S (North/South Library) promotes the initiative Café com Livros (Coffee with Books), which, as the name implies, invites the public to a conversation around coffee and books with the session guests.

Among CES outreach activities, we can highlight the activities dedicated to young audiences: the annual cycles Young Social Scientists, which have come to give greater visibility to national and international research produced by young researchers in a variety of areas; and the collaboration with the National Agency Live Science, which has been organizing internships at CES for students from elementary and secondary schools.  CES Goes to School is an activity dedicated to the scientific dissemination at elementary and secondary schools, seeking to reach and motivate younger audiences to the relevance of humanities and social sciences to the knowledge about functioning of society and in finding ways to solve social problems and improve the quality of life of citizens. In its first edition, this activity was limited to the central region, but due to the evident success in its editions this activity has significantly extended its area of operation to other regions of the country. Among the activities offered this year, you can submit your request and CES goes to your school .

Finally, every two years, CES awards young researchers from Portuguese-speaking countries with high quality works in the field of social sciences. Every year, CES provides Grants for Short-Term Stays at CES, with the overall goal of extending the potential and dimension of international research networks among young people from Portuguese speaking countries (CPLP).
