CES Award
FOR YOUNG SOCIAL SCIENTISTS FROM COUNTRIES HAVING PORTUGUESE AS THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

Regulations

1. The Centre for Social Studies of the School of Economics, University of Coimbra, Associate Laboratory again grants the CES Award designed to reward high quality work in the field of the social sciences and humanities originally elaborated in the Portuguese language.
 
2. Applications are received from persons up to the age of 35 (upon the closing deadline) from any one of the countries having Portuguese as their official language.
 
3. The award is designed to reward studies which, by virtue of their exceptional quality, contribute to the development of Portuguese-speaking scientific communities.
 
4. The Award is given every two years and consists of five thousand Euros.
 
5. Unpublished works or works published between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2014 are eligible. This time span also applies to academic dissertations; in this such case the date of approval will apply.
 
6. The Panel, consisting of a group of reputed social scientists from countries having Portuguese as their official language, experts in the field of social sciences and humanities, is chaired by the Director of the Centre for Social Studies.
 
7. The Panel’s deliberations will be determined by an absolute majority of votes, with the Chair having the casting vote.
 
8. The Panel may decide not to grant the Award and its deliberations will be final.
 
9. The Award may be granted on an ex aequo basis.
 
10. The Panel’s deliberations will be finalized in the six months following the close of the application period.
 
11. Applications must be received by the Centre for Social Studies until Mai 15th, 2015.
 
12. Applications must include six copies of the work to be considered for the Award; full identification of the applicant, as well as any other information the latter may find pertinent. Additionally, when possible, a digital copy of the work must be delivered.
 
13. CES reserves the right to opt for publication of the work(s) receiving the Award.
 
14. Publication of the award-winning work shall mention receipt of the Award.
