Eduardo Souto de Moura (consultor (EU)ROPA)

Eduardo Souto de Moura nasce no Porto a 25 de Junho de 1952.

Colabora com o arquiteto Noé Dinis em 1974 e com Álvaro Siza entre 1975 e 1979. Licencia-se em Arquitetura pela Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto (ESBAP) em 1980. Inicia a atividade como profissional liberal em 1980.

Assistente do curso de arquitetura da Universidade do Porto (FAUP) entre 1981 e 1991. Professor convidado nas Faculdade de Arquitetura de Paris-Belleville (1988), nas Escolas de Arquitetura de Harvard e Dublin (1989), na ETH Zurich (1990/91), na Escola de Arquitetura de Lausanne (1994) e na E.P.F.L. de Lausanne (2010/11), na Academia di Mendrisio (2011/12) e na Faculdade de Arquitetura de Mantova – Politecnico di Milano (2015/16). Professor Catedrático convidado na FAUP em 1990. Em 2011, é distinguido com o Prémio Pritzker e em 2018, com o Leão de Ouro da Bienal de Veneza.

 

Carlos Eduardo Comas (Porto Alegre, consultor (EU)ROPA)

Carlos Eduardo Comasformou-se arquiteto na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1966). É mestre em Planejamento Urbano e mestre em Arquitetura pela University of Pennsylvania (1977) e doutor em Projet Architectural et Urbain -pela Université de Paris VIII (2002). É professor Titular aposentado do Departamento de Arquitetura da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, com a qual mantém vínculo como Docente Convidado (atividade não remunerada), credenciado para atuar como Docente Permanente e orientador (mestrado e doutorado) do Programa de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Arquitetura - PROPAR-UFRGS, na área de Teoria, História e Crítica da Arquitetura, onde exerce atividades de ensino e pesquisa. 

Foi coordenador de 2005 a 2008 do Programa de Pesquisa e Pós-graduação em Arquitetura da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, PROPAR-UFRGS, assumindo em 2009 a coordenação editorial. Foi coordenador do DOCOMOMO Núcleo-RS de 2005 a 2007 e coordenador geral do DOCOMOMO Brasil de 2008 a 2011, voltando a coordenar o DOCOMOMO Núcleo-RS em 2012. Membro do comité assessor da área no CNPq em duas ocasiões. Representante adjunto da área na CAPES no triênio 2005-2007. Integra o conselho editorial das revistas Arqtexto (UFRGS), Arcos (ESDI/UERJ), Arquitextos- Vitruvius e Architectural Research Quarterly (Cambridge University). Membro do CICA (Comité Internacional dos Críticos de Arquitetura) da União Internacional de Arquitetos. Tem publicado extensamente sobre a arquitetura e o urbanismo modernos brasileiros e elaborado projetos de arquitetura e urbanismo significativos.

 

Wilfried Wang (Austin, Texas)

Wilfried Wang is the O'Neil Ford Centennial Professor in Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin. With Barbara Hoidn, he is founder of HOIDN WANG PARTNER, Berlin.  

He is a registered architect in Berlin. Born in Hamburg, Wang studied architecture at the Bartlett School, University College London. From 1989 to 1995 he was in partnership with John Southall. Together with Nadir Tharani, he was founding co-editor of 9H Magazine (1979-1995), with Richard Burdett, he was co-director of the 9H Gallery (1985-1990), and director of the German Architecture Museum (1995-2000).  

He taught at the Polytechnic of North London, University College London, the ETH Zurich, the Staedelschule, the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and at the University of Navarra. Wang is the author of various essays and monographs on the architecture of the 20th-century.  

With Michael Benedikt, Kevin Alter and Barbara Hoidn, he is on the editorial board of the O'Neil Ford Monograph and Duograph Series, jointly published by UTSOA and Wasmuth.  

He has served on competition and award juries and is chairman of the board of the Schelling Architecture Foundation.  

He is a member of CICA; an honorary member of the Federation of German Architects (BDA); a foreign member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm; has received an honorary doctorate from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm; a member of the Academy of the Arts, Berlin; and is an honorary member of the Portuguese Chamber of Architects.

 

Carles Muro (co-comissário da exposição ÁLVARO SIZA - (IN)DISCIPLINA)

Carles Muro (Barcelona, 1964) studied architecture at the ETSABarcelona, where he graduated in 1991. 

Worked with Elías Torres and José A. Martínez Lapeña in Barcelona (1987-1991) and Álvaro Siza in Porto (1992-1993) before setting up in private practice in 1993. Built projects include the Public Market in Inca (Majorca) and the Health Care Centres in Castellar del Vallès and Tordera, near Barcelona. The work of his practice has been extensively exhibited and published worldwide. 

His career as an educator started in 1993 at the ETSAB, where he continued to teach until 2015. He was also Unit Master at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (London, 1996-1998), Director of the Masters Programme “Arquitectura: Crítica y Proyecto” at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, 1998-2002) and Associate Professor of Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where he taught from 2013 to 2018. 

He has also served as member of the editorial and advisory board of several architectural periodicals and co-directed the “Pre-Textos de Arquitectura” book series. A selection of his writings was collected in the volume Arquitecturas Fugaces (Lampreave, Madrid, 2007). In May 2017 he became the first Curator of Architecture of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto (Portugal).

 

Eliana Sousa Santos (investigadora (EU)ROPA)

Eliana Sousa Santos is an architect, a postdoctoral researcher and an assistant professor of architecture. She was awarded the Fernando Távora Prize 2016/17, and has since been publishing her travel essays in the press. She was the curator of the exhibition The Shape of Plain (Gulbenkian Museum Lisbon 2016/17), an associate project of the Lisbon Architecture Triennial 2016. 

In 2013/14, she was a visiting postdoctoral research fellow at Yale University, and currently is a researcher working on the project "History of Architecture Beyond Tradition, Architecture as Cultural Production” and other research projects at CES, University of Coimbra. 

She has a degree in architecture from the Technical University of Lisbon, a master degree from University of Coimbra and a PhD from the London Consortium, University of London. 

She has worked at the landscape architecture office West 8 and at Sousa Santos Arquitectos. She has taught at ESAD.CR and currently is an invited assistant professor at Dept. of Architecture and Urbanism at ISCTE-IUL.

 

Nelson Mota (Facing Europe – TU DELFT)

Nelson Mota formou-se em arquitectura no Departamento de Arquitectura da Universidade de Coimbra. Actualmente ensina teoria e projecto de arquitectura na Delft University of Technology (Holanda). Na sua dissertação de doutoramento “An Archaeology of the Ordinary: Rethinking the Architecture of Dwelling from CIAM to Siza” (Delft University of Technology, 2014) estudou a relação entre o projecto de habitação colectiva e a reprodução de práticas sociais e espaciais vernaculares, com um foco especial nos projectos de habitação social desenvolvidos por Álvaro Siza nas décadas de 1970 e 1980. Nelson é editor da revista académica Footprint e membro fundador do gabinete Comoco arquitectos.

 

Cristina Castelo Branco (Facing Europe – ENSA MARSEILLE)

Cristina Castelo Branco, nascida em Lisboa (1969), formada em arquitetura na FAUP (Porto, 1994), pós-graduada em Desenho Urbano no ISCTE (Lisboa, 1997). Em 1998 cria o atelier lema barros + castelo branco com projetos premiados internacionalmente, (finalistas dos prémios FAD em 2006.)

Em 2005 aceita convite para vereação do Urbanismo da Câmara Municipal de Torres Vedras (cria o Gabinete de Projeto Municipal, lança o programa de descoberta e defesa da arquitetura e património, “Kit para a Defesa do Património”. Em 2010 inicia curso de doutoramento no Darq - Coimbra, principiando a tese doutoral em 2012, ano em que se muda para França, Aix en Provence onde reinstala atelier de arquitetura. Atualmente leciona na Universidade Aix Marselha e na Escola de Arquitetura de Marselha, além da prática de projeto. 

 

Bruno Silvestre (Facing Europe – KINGSTON LONDRES)

Nasce em Sintra em 1974.

Licencia-se em Arquitectura pelo Departamento de Arquitectura da FCT da Unversidade de Coimbra em 2000. 

Colabora com Pedro Mauricio Borges entre 1999 a 2001 e com Manuel Graça Dias e Egas José Vieira entre 2001 e 2003. Trabalha com Henley Halebrown em Londres entre 2003 e 2010. 

Em 2010 funda brunosilestreARCHITECTURE em Londres. Em 2013 vence, em co-autoria com Alexandre Dias e Luis Spranger, o consurso para o projecto de habitação social na Zona de Alvenarias do Bairro da Boavista em Lisboa. 

Lecciona a cadeira de Projecto no Reino Unido desde 2007 e desde 2017 é director do 1º. Ciclo do Curso de Arquitectura na Kingston School of Art em Londres. 

 

Tiago P. Borges (Facing Europe – EPF LAUSANNE)

Tiago P. Borges (Coimbra, 1983) é arquitecto e investigador. Formado na Universidade de Coimbra e na École Polytechnique et Fédérale de Lausanne, onde foi assistente de Lacaton & Vassal e onde ensina no laboratório de projeto EAST desde 2014. Em 2016 foi premiado no concurso de crítica emergente de arquitectura Erstlingda revista suíça Werk, Bauen und Wohnen. Em 2018 foi co-curador da exposição Still A Matter of Artdedicada à jovem arquitectura helvética, no Forum d’Architectures de Lausanne. E em 2019 co-editou o livro Plans&Images – An Archive of Projects on Typology in Architecturepublicado pela Park Books. Vive na Suiça desde 2008 e tem atelier em Lausanne.

 

Stefano Tornieri (Facing Europe – IUAV VENEZA)

Master Degree in Architecture in 2010, Ph.D in architectural composition in 2015 at University IUAV of Venice. During the doctoral studies he is Visiting Fellow at CEAU (study center in architecture and urbanism) at FAUP University of Porto. Actually he is assistant professor at the international Ph.D of University IUAV of Venice and Research Fellow at IR.IDE (Infrastructure Research Integral Design Environment) with a research on delta landscapes and relation between heritage processes and value production. Founder of Babau Bureau, Architecture and Landscape Bureau in Venice, EU Mies van der Rohe nominee 2019 and AADIPA finalist 2019. 

 

Miguel Eufrásia (Facing Europe – UK BASED)

Miguel Eufrásia é um arquiteto licenciado pela FAUP, investigador e candidato a Doutoramento no DARQ-FCTUC. Colaborou no atelier MVCC no Porto de 2002 até 2010, quando iniciou atividade em regime de freelance e em colaboração com práticas emergentes no Porto. Foi um editor e colunista no projeto ‘Homeland’, que representou Portugal na Bienal de Veneza de Arquitetura em 2014. Obteve uma Bolsa Individual de Doutoramento atribuída pela FCT e uma Bolsa de Investigação ao Arquivo do CCA, Centro Canadiano de Arquitetura, para pesquisar o acervo de Álvaro Siza. Está atualmente a escrever a tese de Doutoramento ‘Sustentabilidade Crítica’, sob a orientação de Jorge Figueira.

 

Carlota Torricelli  (Facing Europe – POLIMI BASED)

Carlotta Torricelli, architect, graduated at the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy, in 2006 with a thesis on the design of the city of Porto, where she studied at the FAUP during the years 2002-2003 and 2005. Since 2011, she has held a PhD in Architectural Composition and has been a tutor at the Iuav PhD School in Venice, Italy. In 2012, she was a fellow at the “C.M. Lerici” Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. She currently teaches Architectural and Urban Composition as adjunct professor at the AUIC School - Milan Polytechnic. She gives lessons at different schools of architecture, as well as attending international conventions and seminars. She writes articles and essays, contributing to series on architecture as well as international journals. She lives and works in Milan.
