Ricardo Jerónimo Silva


Biography

Ricardo Jerónimo Azevedo Silva holds a PhD degree from the University of Coimbra. He concluded his graduate degree in Architecture from the Department of Architecture of FCTUC, in 2004, with the final thesis "Registo de Arquitectura Moderna em Coimbra, 1930-1974". From 2004 to 2008, he was a member of the Centre Region team in the Inquiry into Twentieth-Century Architecture in Portugal (IAPXX), promoted by the Association of Portuguese Architects. He concluded his traineeship and pursued the professional practice in a project office, in Coimbra. In 2008, he started his PhD, under the supervision of Professor José António Bandeirinha, over which, besides conducting research work, he also held communications in several international conferences and seminars. His PhD thesis on "Arquitectura hospitalar e assistencial promovida por Bissaya Barreto" was presented in December 2013. Currently, he conducts postdoctoral work with the theme "Equipamentos hospitalares, desenvolvimento urbano e políticas sócio-sanitárias: impactos e influências no século XX português".
