Sidh Losa Mendiratta


Biography

Sidh Losa Mendiratta (Porto, 1977) is an architect from Faculdade de Arquitectura, University of Porto (2005). He is a researcher in the group Cities Cultures and Architecture of CES since January 2013. He is a auxiliar professor in Departamento de Arquitectura, Lusófona University of Porto since 2012. Between 2006 and 2008, he was a junior researcher in the project "Bombaim antes dos Ingleses" (POCTI/HAR/47225/2002), coordinated by the professores Walter Rossa and Paulo Varela Gomes. He concluded his PhD in 2012 in University of Coimbra with the thesis "Dispositivos do sistema defensivo da Província do Norte do Estado da Índia, 1521-1739" (SFRH/BD/36684/2007), advised by professors Walter Rossa and Paulo Varela Gomes and approved "summa cum laude". In 2013 he started his post-doctoral project "Construção identitária: paisagens urbanas e arquitectura de origem Católica em Bombaim, séculos XVI-XX" (SFRH/BPD/89298/2012). Since 2019, he is the researcher responsible for the project "(Re)Framing Identity: management of contested cultural heritage sites in South and Southeast Asia"(CEECIND/02566/2017). Awarded the "Fernando Távora" prize by the Architect's Order of Portugal in 2013 with the project: "Domus-fortis in Æquator: as casas-torre de origem Europeia nos territórios do Estado da Índia, séculos XVI-XVIII".
