Jota Mombaça is a Brazilian author and visual artist who explores themes such as monstrosity, humanity, queer studies, diaspora, violence, and anti-colonial justice. Situated within the tensions between art and politics, her work offers critical reflections from a perspective of the Global South. In Não vão nos matar agora, the author transforms writing into a space for experimentation and resistance, using words and the body as instruments of combat and the creation of new meanings. By addressing marginalised and surveilled bodies, Mombaça affirms her resilience in the face of attempts at control and erasure through a body of work that proposes the reinvention of her own existence.
