Hip-hop in Brazil and Portugal: conversations on art in the suburb

Each year, in November, during the Week of Science and Technology, universities, scientific institutions, schools, associations and museums open their doors to give notice of the activities they develop, through a direct contact with the public. In 2007, CES associated itself to the National Agency Live Science, organizing an event on Hip-Hop and Art in the Suburb (in Portugal and Brazil), destined to young students of the Technical and Artistic Professional Institute of Coimbra (ITAP).

Science Meeting in Portugal 2007

Within the Science Meeting in Portugal – Science 2007, the Portuguese Research Centres and Laboratories developed, at the Knowledge Pavilion in Lisbon, a special programme of activities promoting science. CES, through the Observatory for consumer Debt, carried out the following activities: the “nugget game”, the “table game” and the “leaflet of the ant and the grasshopper”. Falling upon 3 thematic modules (consumption and family budget management; savings and investment; credit and debt) these activities were developed in the sequence of a study on the problem of Portuguese families over-debt, that had been concluded recently, and that revealed the necessity of investing in the financial education of children and youngsters.
