National Forum 1th Iberoamerican Conference on Social Responsibility February 4th and 5th, 2010, CES-Lisboa/CIUL, Picoas Plaza, Rua do Viriato, nº 13 (underground station: Picoas) 1) The Social Intervention of Businesses and Businessmen in Portugal. The aim of this Working Group is to reflect on the itineraries of Portuguese businesses and businessmen in the social field. The intention is to discuss the different Dynamics and perspectives existing between philanthropy, sponsorship and social responsibility of businesses. The discussion will focus on work regarding business associativism, volunteering, joint social projects, the establishing of networks and partnerships and social interventions in communities. 2) The Environmental Issue and Sustainable Development. This Working Group aims to aggregate studies that point out the present socio-environmental concerns established in the national and international agenda. Pursuing the discussion of researches on the practices of businesses that self-title themselves as socially responsible, opposite to the damages or negative externalities created by their economic activities generators of impacts in the communities’ life. 3) Labour Issues, Social Inequalities and the Social Responsibility of Organizations in Portugal. This Working Group has for aim to assemble researches that analyze the interaction existing between labour relations, social inequalities, trade unionism and business institutions with idea and practice of social responsibility of Portuguese business. Papers that approach the initiatives and financial supports of the European commission regarding social responsibility of businesses will also be accepted. 4) Portuguese Small and Medium Businesses and Social Responsibility. This Working Group has for aim reflecting upon the performance of small and medium businesses in the field of social responsibility. Discussion shall focus upon if variables such as size, financial investment, technology and innovation interfere in the social responsibility performance of these businesses. Papers that discuss the relation between the development of productive systems/clusters and social responsibility will also be accepted. 5) Economic Elites, Ethics and Power in Portugal. This Working Group aims to reflect upon the relation between economics, culture and politics parting from the analytical axis that involves the relation between economic elites (businessmen, business and/or business entities) and their established power in Portugal. The reflection shall focus on the political articulation of economic agents with other spheres of power. Still at aim is the discussion of the role of these economic agents in the context of economic crisis and its articulation with the social answers. The intention is to analyze the relation between the historic context, family structure of businesses and the political power developed in Portugal. 6) Social Responsibility of Businesses in a Compared Perspective. The Working Group will approach themes regarding social responsibility of companies, business culture and ethic behaviour under a compared perspective. Papers on the experiences of North and South American, European, Asian and African countries in comparison with Portugal will be considered. Discussion will also focus upon papers that deal with the performance of Portuguese companies outside the Portuguese territory, in what matters to labour relations, ethic behaviour and social responsibility, particularly in decolonialized countries. 7) Autarquias e Terceiro Sector |
