National Forum 1th Iberoamerican Conference on Social Responsibility February 4th and 5th, 2010, CES-Lisboa/CIUL, Picoas Plaza, Rua do Viriato, nº 13 (underground station: Picoas) Coordination: Maria Alice Nunes Costa (CES) and Maria João Santos (SOCIUS) Organization: Centre for Social Studies- CES and Research Centre in Economic and Organizational Sociology - SOCIUS This event has for aim to assemble the academic studies that have been carried out in the extent of social responsibility of businesses in Portugal, promoting new frontiers in the research on this field. The mission shall be to promote the expansion and development of research regarding social responsibility of businesses in Portugal. The assurance of the involvement of businessmen and businesses with agendas related to work, environment, social inequalities, among others, will be pursued. The debate on the practices that have come to be developed, in the field of social responsibility of businesses, with academic theories with strong interdisciplinary scientific extent, will be strongly encouraged. Besides promoting critical reflection, also pursued is the establishing of national and international research networks regarding the contemporary phenomenon of social responsibility of businesses. Thus, we believe it is possible to maximize efforts and synergies between the academic world, public space, economic agents and public power in the establishment of a culture that favours social innovations and involve, effectively, social responsibility and cohesion. Therefore, we invite every research centre, researchers and professionals to forward their paper proposals on social responsibility of businesses in Portugal and/or under the compared perspective that are being developed or carried out.
