Participation in other projects:
Luísa Sales and Aida Dias are researchers in the European project IPPHEC: Improve the Preparedness for Psychosocial Help in Events of Crisis, sponsored by European Public Health Alliance DG SANCO (Directorate General for Health and Consumer Affairs).
This project aims to assess and improve psychosocial support provided by hospitals to victims of catastrophic events.
Margarida Calafate Ribeiro (as coordinator) and Roberto Vecchi are developing the research project “Poetry of the Colonial War: the ontology of the shattered ´self´”, sponsored by the National Agency for Sciences and Technology (FCT). This project aims to bring together the first exhaustive critical collection of poetic material on the Colonial Wars. This poetry, authored by poets either directly or indirectly involved in the conflict, written during or after the historical period of the war, requires attention, systematization and reflection, as a locus of memory and post-traumatic creation.
António Sousa Ribeiro coordinated the research project “Representing Violence and the Violence of Representation”, concluded by September 2008, and sponsored by the National Agency for Sciences and Technology (FCT). This project was developed in the fields of cultural and literary studies, and it had as its main goal to study the way violence affects the order of representation, and how new languages and new discursive protocols exert influence over practices, namely through the legitimating processes that such languages inevitably produce.
José Manuel Pureza coordinates the research projects “Portuguese cooperation and strengthening human security in institutionally fragile states (Guinea Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe)” (sponsored by IPAD – Portuguese Agency for Development), “Trajectories of outbreaks of violence and containment: a comparative study between Bissau and Praia” (sponsored by FCT) and “Violence and small arms: the Portuguese case” (sponsored by FCT), the three developed by the Research Group for Peace Studies of CES.
