Caribbean-ResIST workshop lays firm base for collaboration

 

A workshop held at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies at the University of the West Indies Barbados campus on 7-8 October 2008 brought together five members of the ResIST team with a group widely representative of academic and policy interests in research and development in the Caribbean region, including CARICOM and the Caribbean Development Bank. The Seminar was opened by a speeech by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Commerce for Barbados, the Hon. George Hutson, M.P. The group heard presentations on the work of ResIST, heard presentions from Caribbean collegues on S&T issues in the region, and developed a plan for future collaboration in research on science, technology and inequality issues in the Caribbean.
