Mónica V. Silva


Biography

Mónica Silva is a junior researcher at Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra, since 2009. Currently she is a junior researcher on the project "MEMOIRS - Children of Empires and European Postmemories", European Research Council, taking place at the Centre for Social Studies. She is attending a PhD in Cultural Heritage of Portuguese Influence at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra. She has an MA in Education Sciences (Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, University of Coimbra). She was a junior researcher on the projects: "Children of Colonial Wars: post-memory and representations", "Poetry of the Colonial Wars: the ontology of the 'shattered-self'", that produce the book "Anthology of the poetic memory of the Colonial War" (2011, Edições Afrontamento), "Portugal and the Post-Colonialism: concepts, contexts, voices", "Liberation Movements in Angola and Mozambique: anticolonialism and identitary ruptures declined in the feminine" and "José Luandino Vieira: diaries of Tarrafal" that organized and edited the recently published book "Papéis da Prisão - apontamentos, diário, correspondência (1962-1971)" ([Papers from Prison - notes, diary and correspondence (1962-1971)] (2015, Caminho/Leya). Her experience and interests lies at the intersection of "identities and postcolonial studies", "memory and post-memory", "Portuguese Colonial War", "Liberation Movements in the Portuguese colonies" and "Cultural heritages of Portuguese influence".
