Margarida Calafate Ribeiro


Biography

Margarida Calafate Ribeiro is senior researcher at the Centro de Estudos Sociais, University of Coimbra, and a member of the Humanities, Migration and Peace Studies Research Group (NHUMEP). She is a lecturer in the PhD taught course Cultural Heritages of Portuguese Influence . She holds the Eduardo Lourenço Chair, from Instituto Camões and the University of Bologna, (with Roberto Vecchi). In 2015 won a "Consolidator Grant" from the "European Research Council (ERC)" with the research project "MEMOIRS - Os Filhos dos Impérios e Pós-Memórias Europeias". She holds a PhD in Portuguese Studies from King's College, University of London, an MA from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a BA from the University of Aveiro, Portugal. She is the author of África no feminino: as mulheres portuguesas e a Guerra Colonial; and Uma história de regressos: império, Guerra Colonial e pós-colonialismo. In 2015, she co-edited the books Papéis da Prisão: Apontamentos, diário, correspondência (1962-1971), by José Luandino Vieira (with Mónica V. Silva and Roberto Vecchi); Patrimónios de Influência Portuguesa: Modos de olhar (with Walter Rossa); and Do Colonialismo como Nosso Impensado, by Eduardo Lourenço (with Roberto Vecchi).
