Café com Livros

January 12 to November 30, 2012

Biblioteca Norte | Sul, CES-Coimbra

The North/South Library, more than a book and knowledge center, is the biggest common space at the Centre for Social Studies. A space where searches, circulation, meetings, discoveries, silences and words happen and merge. Silent and quiet words waiting to be borrowed, waiting to become alive and to be returned back to silence. Without even noticing it, we enter a small world made up of multiple worlds orderly stowed in bookshelves. For those who use this place, daily or occasionally, the library represents a space of affections, complicity and mute talks made by exchanging glances between those who sit there or those who simply  walk the  corridors.

Sessions
This activity aims to give voice to the North/South Library 4 times a year, breaking the silence of the library space, where the sessions will take place at night (from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm).
Each session will count with the presence of three guests: a CES researcher, a regular user and an external guest. They will come to talk about the books of their lives: work books, fiction books or just a simple quote or a remarkable excerpt from a simple page of one book.
These sessions may also count on music or theater performances, poetry declamation, photography exhibits or short movies presentation.
This intends to be the celebration of a space that clearly deserves to be celebrated.

The coffee will be served with books and will also serve as an excuse to leave home and visit the library at night.
