Comentary by Paulo Guerra (Judge of the Court of Appeal of Coimbra)

The issue of space is fundamental in any exercise of power through the location of people and codification of their interactions. However, it has been one of the most overlooked topics at the level of reflection on the law and the legal system, particularly the question of how the courts have become a symbol of new ideas on the role of law in society and on citizenship.

The book  "Sociologia do(s) Espaço(s) da Justiça: diálogos interdisciplinares" intends to be an innovative analysis on this subject , reflecting, in an interdisciplinary way, on the courts as spaces in the service of legitimizing ideology and legal and judicial culture, taking as its starting point the question of access to law and justice, discussing issues such as transparency and virtualization of justice and their impact on the legacy of architectural models. The second part presents contributions specifically linked to the spaces of family and children justice.
