Resumo

The reform of the Judiciary Organisation by Law No. 62/2013 of 26 August and Decree-Law No. 49/2014 of 27 March (and subsequent Decrees), in force in September 2014,  altered not only the territorial constituency (one court by social centrality), but also promoted the specialisation of functional jurisdiction, creating a structure based on the concentration of judicial offer, with the intention of, as  the law refers, of providing a  judicial response more flexible and closer to the localities.

This seminar intends to analyse the impact of the shutdown, the resulting territorial concentration and specialisation of courts on mobilisation/access to justice, adequacy of buildings, as well as perceptions about the before and after of  the reform, in general, and in the region of Coimbra, in particular.

Dialoguers:

- Isabel Matos Namora (Chief Judge of the Family and Children Court of Coimbra)

- Luís Lourenço Matias (President of the Municipality of Penela)

- Representative of the District Council of Coimbra of the Bar Association (TBC)

Moderator: Patrícia Branco (CES)
