Case assignment models: trends and perspectives

April 18, 2024, 14h30 (GMT+1)

Online

Case assignment is an essential act in the organisational architecture of any judicial system and is closely related to key values such as judicial independence and impartiality, organisational flexibility and court efficiency. Recently, the approval of Laws no. 55/2021 of 13 August and no. 56/2021 of 16 August introduced control mechanisms to the electronic case assignment in the Portuguese judicial and administrative and fiscal courts, intending to achieve total transparency in the case assignment procedure. Through the sharing of experiences and the involvement of professionals and institutional players, this seminar aims to contribute to the discussion of distribution procedures and mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the distribution of cases in the Portuguese judicial system.
