Labour, Nature, Capitalism and COVID-19

Journal of Australian Political Economy

Overview

Like the climate crisis, the implications of COVID-19 extend into the future and its impacts are also very unequal. In this article the two authors outline an analysis of the ecological policy of the crisis generated by COVID-19, focusing on the implications of this crisis for our understanding of socially necessary labour in a post-COVID world. How the authors defend labour and the environment cannot be considered separately. And to explore the potential of an ecosocialist future, this article addresses a central question: what is the current purpose of labour?
