Chapter: “Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power”

Introduction
Audre Lorde is a Black woman, feminist, poet, lesbian, mother and teacher. An activist and thinker. Her essay “Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power” is one of the most important elements of Lorde’s thought, constantly proposing possible paths forward. Deeply rooted in the experience of being outside what she called the “mythical norm” - white, heterosexual and thin - the thinker proposes understanding the erotic as power and a source of information.
