The project CROME - Crossed Memories, Politics of Silence: The Colonial-Liberation Wars in Postcolonial Times, hosted by the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, and the Faculty of Social Sciences of Agostinho Neto University, are jointly organising a colloquium titled Echoes of history: memory, celebration and silence in the Angolan liberation struggle.


The event proposes a discussion of various aspects of the history and memory of the Angolan liberation struggle and war against Portuguese colonial rule. It will bring together researchers and memory producers who have produced substantial work on this topic and have deepened public knowledge on this subject.


The event will take place on 28 August 2019 at the Agostinho Neto University's Faculty of Social Sciences' auditorium, followed by a screening of the film Independência in collaboration with ATD - Tchiweka Documentation Association.

The event is open to the public and does not require registration.
