About

If the term "self-management" appeared in the 1950s to qualify the economic system installed in Tito's Yugoslavia, the notion carries with it a long trajectory of struggles for social emancipation. From the Paris Commune of 1871 to the recent worker-recuperated companies, self-management has been both a practice of liberation and a theory proposing an economic, social and political democracy. In this inaugural session, Cláudio Nascimento will present the historical trajectory of self-management, through the notion of cycles.

Speakers:
Cláudio Nascimento - The cycles of self-management
Moderator: Pierre Marie

Organisers: Ecosol/CES, Interdisciplinary Unit for Social Development (NIDES) and Research Group on Worker-Recuperated Companies (GPERT)
