Bio notes:

Mara Pieri holds a PhD in "Human Rights in Contemporary Societies" at the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra and a Master in Sociology at the University of Trento (Italy). Since 2017 she is a member of the Steering Committee of the Research Network on Sexuality of the ESA (European Sociological Society). Since 2018 she is coordinator of the Thematic Section on Sexuality and Gender of the APS (Portuguese Sociological Association). She combines an interest for disability studies with queer/crip studies, through an intersectional approach and a specific focus on chronic illness. In 2020, her PhD research won the "Controtempo" award of the Codici Ricerca e Intervento Foundation, for the dissemination of a guide for health professionals on LGBTQ+ issues and chronic illness.

Sebastián Medina Gay is Assistant Professor at the Escuela de Salud Pública, Universidad de Chile and a Medical Surgeon at the same University. Master in Social Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Xochimilco, Mexico; Diploma in Medical Anthropology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, México; and PhD in Sociology ("Postcolonialisms and Global Citizenship" programme), from the University de Coimbra, Portugal. He does research on Collective Health, Epistemology of Health and Sociocultural Epidemiology.
