Overview
Retelling the history of pandemics from the past can lead to the recovery of experiences necessary to face the current challenges. Based on excerpts from the journal of Samuel Pepys, a British naval administrator living in London during the bubonic plague epidemic of 1664 and 1665, the article draws parallels in view of the difficulties currently experienced by citizens in confinement.
