Bio notes

Fernando Fontes is a Sociologist. PhD in Sociology and Social Policy,  University of Leeds, UK  with the thesis: “Social Citizenship and Collective Action: The case of the Portuguese Disabled People’s Movement” and MA in  Sociology at the University of Coimbra, with the thesis: "Disability and Childhood: social policies and representations in Portugal". CES researcher he is currently devolping the project " Decide - Disability and self-determination: the challenge of Independent living in Portugal (2016-2019) (Ref. PTDC/IVC-SOC/6484/2014-POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016803).  

Joana Pimentel Alves, PhD in Sociology from the University of Coimbra, with the thesis entitled "Cuidar e ser cuidado. Uma análise do cuidado quotidiano, permanente e de longa duração". Sociologist and research fellow of the project ‘Decide - Deficiência e autodeterminação: o desafio da ‘vida independente’ em Portugal' (2016-2019). 

Adriano Moura, PhD candidate of the Doctoral Programme Human Rights in Contemporary Societies, developing the PhD project entitled “Grammars of human dignity: paths towards pedagogical transformations and social justice'. Sociologist of education and researcher research fellow of the project ‘Decide - Deficiência e autodeterminação: o desafio da ‘vida independente’ em Portugal' (2016-2019)’. 

Marina Dias de Faria é Doutora em Administração pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) e Professora Adjunta do curso da Administração Pública da Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). Atualmente é Pós-Doutoranda no Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra sob a orientação do Professor Doutor Fernando Fontes. Seus interesses de pesquisa enfocam a exclusão social das pessoas com deficiência, bem o debate sobre epistemologias e metodologias capazes de conceder voz a tais indivíduos.

Helena Pérez-de la Merced is working on gender equality public policies in the Spanish administration. Also is Phd Candidate on Gender Studies (University Autónoma de Madrid) and Research Fellowship on Department of Developmental Psychology and Education (University Autónoma de Madrid).

Gustavo Santos Elpes PhD candidate of the Doctoral Programme "Human Rights in Contemporary Societies" at Centre for Social Studies (CES) and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (III) of the University of Coimbra. Master of "Sociology and Anthropology" at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IFCS/UFRJ, Brazil). Latu Sensu Specialization in "Gender and Sexuality" at the Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights of the State University of Rio de Janeiro's Institute of Social Medicine (CLAM/IMS/UERJ, Brazil). Professional Degree in Fiction and Documentary Filmmaking (Brazilian Institute of Audiovisual-IBAV/Film School Darcy Ribeiro-ECDR), Brazil. Bachelor of Arts in "Social Sciences" at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IFCS/UFRJ, Brazil).
