Ana Maria Seixas holds a PhD in Education Sciences, specialization area on Sociology of Education, by the University of Coimbra. She is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Coimbra, where she teaches since 1987She is also researcher at the Centre for Social Studies, member of the thematic line Democracy, Justice and Human Rights, and co-coordinator of the Observatory for Education Policies and Professional Development Her research interests and teaching activity focus on sociology of education, education policies, higher education, comparative education and education administration and management

Maria Fernanda Palrinhas has a degree in Biology - educational branch (1987). She is a teacher at the Coimbra Centre School Grouping, subject group 520 (Biology and Geology).

Júlia Garraio is researcher at the Center for Social Studies, integrating the research line Democracy, Justice and Human Rights. Co-coordinator of GT-POLICREDOS together with Teresa Toldy and Luciane Lucas Santos. Most of her research, activities and publications were dedicated to the German literature and culture in the 20th and 21st centuries. Her post-doctoral research project focused the cultural memories of the rape of German women and girls in the context of WWII. Her recent work examines how women's experiences in wartime are appropriated and transformed by gendered national scripts. Her current research interests include sexual violence, masculinities, feminisms, nationalism, comparative literature and media. She is co-founder of the international research group SVAC-Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict. She integrates the International Editorial Board of the European Journal of Women's Studies. She is a researcher of the project DECODEM(De)Coding Masculinities: Towards an enhanced understanding of media's role in shaping perceptions of masculinities in Portugal..

Marta Araújo  (PhD, University of London, Institute of Education, 2003) is Principal Researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra (CES). Her research addresses two complimentary lines of enquiry: i) public policy, political discourse, and ethno-racial discrimination; ii) history education and knowledge production, focusing on the teaching and the public history of (anti-)colonialism and enslavement. Marta is Vice-President of the Scientific Board at CES, where she co-coordinates the PhD Programme 'Democracy in the 21st Century' (CES/FEUC) and lectures at doctoral level ('Democracy in the 21st Century', 'Human Rights in Contemporary Societies'). Recently, she was Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Research on Ethnic Relations and Nationalism (CEREN) at the University of Helsinki. Currently in the Editorial Board of publications in the sociology of 'race' and education in Brazil, Britain, Portugal and the United States, she has published internationally in reputed peer-reviewed journals (e.g. British Journal of Sociology of Education, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Patterns of Prejudice, and 'Race', Ethnicity and Education). She has acted as scientific advisor on ethno-racial equality and participated in selected expert meetings at national and international level (e.g. UNESCO, EU Parliament hearing, Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality). She has also been actively engaged in outreach activities.

Rita Campos Researcher from the Centre for Social Studies from the University of Coimbra (CES-UC), member of the Thematic Line Risk(s), Ecologies, Health and of the Workshop of Ecology and Society (ECOSOC), and co-coordinator of the Methodologies Series "Wheel of Knowledge". Has a PhD in Biology from the University of Porto, on evolutionary biology and population genetics. Since 2009 is interested in the areas of Science Communication and Non-formal Science Education, and working exclusively on these areas since 2016. Her current research interests are centred in the study and production of science communication, active learning and public engagement in and with science (citizen science) tools about the relations between biodiversity and human health, interlinks between systems (natural, social, cultural…) and (environmental) sustainability. She is interested in interdisciplinary approaches and methodologies that enhance the inclusion and participation of the publics, such as context-based education or the visual methodologies, and in mixed methods of evaluation of the produced tools. Maintains regular collaboration with national and international institutions (CIBIO-InBIO, Science Museum of the UC, COI, UFRN). Her work has earned national and international recognition, notably the Distinction Award by the Casa das Ciências (House of Sciences) and the Fresh Ideas Scheme pass by ECSITE.

Sofia Gonçalves is a lecturer at the School of Education at the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (ESEC-IPC) and a collaborating researcher at the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra (CES).

Tatiana Moura Senior researcher at the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra (CES-UC), where she coordinates several national and international projects on masculinities and gender violence prevention (KINDER, X-MEN, among others) with a relevant impact in the production of contributions to programs and public policies on gender equality and masculinities in Portugal and in the European context. She co-coordinates the UPEA-CES and is a member of the Permanent Commission of the Scientific Committee of CES. She is a lecturer of the discipline "International Relations, Feminisms and Masculinities" at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra since September 2021, and Associate Director of the Maria and João Aleixo Institute/UniPeriferias (Maré, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) since March 2018. Between 2019 and 2021 she was co-coordinator of the Humanities, Migrations and Peace Studies Group (NHUMEP-CES), and between 2011 and 2019 she was the Executive Director of Instituto Promundo (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), an international NGO with representation in Brazil, U.S.A., Democratic Republic of Congo and Portugal dedicated to engaging men and boys in gender equality. In the last fifteen years, she has coordinated projects on masculinities, caregiving, violence and trajectories of non-violence in peripheral contexts, particularly in Latin America and Europe. Member of the MenEngage Global Alliance, co-founder and co-coordinator of the MenEngage Iberia Network since 2018, she also integrates the Promundo-US Fellowship Committee since 2021. She holds a PhD in Peace, Conflicts and Democracy from the University Jaume I, Spain, a Master's degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the same Faculty. Her research interests focus on issues related to feminism in International Relations, masculinities, urban violence and newest wars. She is the author of a vast set of scientific publications, from which we highlight, more recently, "Power from the peripheries: Arts, cultures of equality and southern perspectives" (2021; in Suzanne Clisby, Mark Johnson & Jimmy Turner (eds. ), Theorising Cultures of Equality. London, UK: Routledge) and "Societal Violence and Masculinities: understanding linkages in and outside of wars" (2022; in Untapped Power: Leveraging Diversity and Inclusion for Conflict Resolution and Development, edited by Koppell, Carla. Teresa Cunha holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Coimbra. She is a senior researcher at the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra where she lectures in several PhD Courses; co-coordinates the publication 'Oficina do CES'and the Research Program 'Epistemologies of the South. She co-coordinated between 2012 and 2022 the Gender Workshop Series. She coordinates the Advanced School 'Feminist Ecologies of Knowledges'. She is an associated-professor at the College of Education of the Polytechnic College Coimbra and an associate researcher at CODESRIA and the Center for African Studies at Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique. In 2017, the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste awarded her with the Order of Timor-Leste. Her research interests are feminisms and postcolonialisms; other feminist economies and women's economies; post war transition, peace and memories; women's human rights in the Indian Ocean space. She has published several scientific books and articles in several countries and languages of which stand out: Women, Territories and Identities, Territórios e Identidades vol 1, 2 e 3; Women InPower Women. Yaci Maria Marcondes Farias é doutoranda do Programa de Pós-graduação em Ensino, Filosofia e História das Ciências da Universidade Federal da Bahia/ Brasil (PPGEFHC – UFBA). Realiza estágio doutoral no Centro de estudos Sociais (CES) até janeiro de 2023. É especialista em ensino de biologia pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ- FFP). É integrante do Grupo de Pesquisa CABURÉ - Ciência, Sociedade e Educação (UFBA/UEFS), que realiza estudos sobre intervenções educacionais no ensino de ciências, educação anti-opressiva e ensino de ciências crítico, humanista e emancipatório.
