This seminar aims to foster critical reflection on the relationships between sex work, feminisms, the challenges faced by sex workers’ movements, political activism, digital mobilisation and the production of knowledge. Engaging with different feminist perspectives on autonomy, labour rights, citizenship and social justice, and focusing on contemporary Brazil, we will speak with Monique Prada about her professional career, her intellectual and activist work, and learn about her writing process.

Bio note

Monique Prada is a Brazilian author, activist, sex worker and author of the book ‘Putafeminista’ (2018). Monique defends the legitimacy of sex work as a form of feminist labour and analyses the innovations introduced by Brazilian sex workers into feminist discourse on the internet, in street actions and in advocacy with public authorities.
