Echoes of History: Memory, Commemoration and Silence in the Liberation Struggle of Angola

The Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, within the project CROME - Crossed Memories, Politics of Silence: The Colonial-Liberation Wars in Postcolonial Times, and the Faculty of Social Sciences of Agostinho Neto University, will jointly organise a colloquium entitled Echoes of history: memory, celebration and silence in the struggle for liberation of Angola, under the theme of history and memory of the struggle and war of liberation of Angola against the Portuguese colonial rule.

The colloquium will seek to bring together researchers as well as memory producers whose work has been guided by the dissemination and deepening of public knowledge on this subject.

The event will take place on August 28, 2019 at the Agostinho Neto University’s Faculty of Social Sciences’ auditorium, followed by a screening a the film Independência in collaboration with ATD - Tchiweka Documentation Association.

The event is open to the public and does not require registration. The programme will be announced soon.
