Colloquium

The Future of Social Security in Portugal

March 15, 2023, 14h30

Centro de Informação Urbana de Lisboa | CIUL

About

The XXIII Government decided to initiate a debate on the reinforcement of the public system of social protection, creating the Commission for the Sustainability of Social Security, responsible for “drawing up a green book” for “the sustainability of the social security system, specifically regarding pensions”, which technically provides the Government with the necessary elements to draft legislation (Order no. 9126/2022).
In this context, the Observatory produced an Observatory Booklet on this subject (to be disseminated soon) entitled “Segurança Social: o debate sobre a sustentabilidade vai justificar novos cortes nas pensões?” [Social Security: will the debate on sustainability justify new cuts in pensions?] where we try to historically contextualise the most relevant facts, intending also to contribute to broaden - in a positive, extended and creative way - the debate to various sectors of society.
This colloquium will bring together specialists in social security, academics and members of the technical offices of the central trade unions and public administration.

Free entrance, no registration necessary, but limited to the auditorium's capacity.
