Colloquium
EQUI-Champions Project Closing Colloquium
16 June (14:00-18:00) and 17 June (9:30-13:00) | 2026
Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto (FADEUP)
The project EQUI-Champions - Promoting inclusion, gender equity and non-violent models of masculinities in sports environments (2024–2026), coordinated by the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, promotes inclusion, gender equality and non-violent models of masculinity in sporting environments, working with coaches, physical education teachers and young people in Portugal, Croatia and Spain. The project aims to contribute to the prevention of gender-based violence in sports and to the creation of safer, more inclusive and equitable sporting environments.
This event brings together the partners Status M (Croatia), Luta Pela Paz (Brazil/United Kingdom) and Asociación Tarjeta Verde (Futbol Más) (Spain), as well as the project’s coordinating team (CES). The event will also feature experts, stakeholders, members of the FADEUP community and interested members of the public, providing a space for reflection and discussion on the main challenges, results and proposals developed throughout the project.
The colloquium will seek to deepen the debate on the impact of violent models of masculinity and gender-based violence in sporting contexts, identifying prevention and response strategies that contribute to significant changes in the attitudes and practices of coaches and physical education teachers. The aim is to equip sports professionals with innovative strategies that enable them to work with young people on issues related to gender construction, promoting more equal relationships, preventing the use of violence and creating safe, inclusive and supportive sporting environments for adolescents.
The programme will combine presentations, through panels and roundtable discussions, with participatory workshops.
