Anti-gender movements and organisations under pressure: a debate on Brazil and Portugal

March 18, 2026, 15h00

Casa da Esquina (Coimbra)

The meeting proposes a critical reflection on the growing mobilisation of anti-gender discourses and movements and their impact on organisations, public policies, and organisational contexts.

Based on analyses of Portugal and Brazil, the meeting will examine how anti-gender narratives are linked to broader political dynamics and how they produce concrete effects on civil society organisations, public institutions, and education.

The meeting aims to establish a space between scientific research and social intervention, fostering discussion of the contemporary challenges faced by organisations working in the field of equality and human rights.
