Round-table

Responsibility in looking on the suffering of others

January 9, 2020, 10h00

Room 8, CES | Alta

Overview

The Roda de Saberes Cycle has the objective of promoting a space for inter and transdisciplinary dialogue centred on the methodological landscape that characterizes research at CES. With the goal of amplifying this dialogue and facilitating positive and productive interactions between the participants of the cycle, we propose the Roda de Saberes Round-Tables, which constitute informal opportunities to share experiences among CES researchers, aiming to enhance the interactions among all those involved.

In this second Round-Table, following from the debate arisen around the theme “ethical challenges”, we propose a conversation about "Responsibility in looking on the suffering of others".

What is the role and responsibility of Social and Human Sciences researchers before the suffering of others?
How does one deal with that suffering?
What is the limit for the power of the researchers in the relationship with the other?

We hereby leave the invitation for all to appear and the challenge to bring some reflection or testimony about “responsibility” and “suffering”.

We hereby leave the invitation for all to appear and the challenge to bring some reflection or testimony about "ethical challenges". As we intend this to be a moment of informal exchanges and since the best ideas sometimes appear around the table, we suggest that you bring your cup or mug and some contribution (food or drink) to shared snacking.
