Catarina Milhazes


Biography

Catarina Milhazes is a doctoral student in International Relations - International Politics and Conflict Resolution, at the Faculty of Economics and the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra. She is also an international cooperation and development senior consultant, with a focus on EU-Africa relations. She has been working on cross-sector projects and initiatives focusing on tasks related to partnerships' building, community empowerment, research on social development, enhanced participatory governance and better-functioning institutions. She has worked with various organisations, from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. She has experience as team leader, team member and proposal writer with regional and national agencies, namely the European Commission, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank, the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Portuguese Institute for International Cooperation (Camões I.P.). Catarina has also worked as cooperation officer in Guinea-Bissau and as a trainee in political diplomacy at the external services of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Morocco. She holds an MA in Language and Cultural Studies. She is a member of the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies since 2016.
