Riccardo Buonanno

Biography

I am a political theorist from Naples (Southern Italy) and a member of L'Asilo community of commoners, sited in the historical centre of my hometown. Currently, I am developing my PhD project, funded by FCT, at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra (Portugal). My research concerns commons through the lens of Political Ecology, Critical Political Theory and Political Philosophy. I see commoning as a process of daily political and artistic creation questioning the persistence of human dominion on Being and beings. My focus in on the governance of commons as a technique of collective imagination designing the unexpected and indeterminacy. More specifically, I investigate on carnivalesque rituals in commons community, as a way to redesign the governance according to non-historical, cosmic and cyclical time.
