Margarida Gomes


Biography

Margarida Filipe Gomes is a junior researcher at the Centre for Social Studies - University of Coimbra and member of the Democracy, Multicultural Citizenship and Participation Research Group. Holding a degree in Art History by the Faculty of Arts of the University of Coimbra, she also as a specialization in Cultural Affairs (CEFA). Previous to her activity at CES she was a teacher in second degree schools. She also perfomed research activities for several entities. She is a student in the program "Postcolonialisms and Global Citizenship"and she works as a research assistent to Professor Boaventura de Sousa Santos. Her current research interests include the post-colonial debates arround the concepts of cosmopolitanism and identity processes specially from a literary and philosophical perspective in African context. She has been part of the research project "Identities: colonizers and colonized. Portugal and Mozambique" (funded by FCT)under the coordination of Professor Boaventura de Sousa Santos and Prof. Maria Paula Meneses. Recently she published two critical recensions at the Vol.80 of Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais (2008).
