Biography

Sociologist and political scientist, PhD in Urban and Regional Planning, Full Professor at the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level 2) and Cientista do Nosso Estado/FAPERJ (2026 to 2028). She holds a post-doctorate in Sociology from the Centre for Social Studies (CES) at the University of Coimbra, Portugal; a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the Institute of Urban and Regional Research and Planning at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (IPPUR/UFRJ); a doctoral research placement at the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra; and an MA in Political Science together with a bachelor's degree and teaching qualification (licenciatura) in Social Sciences, all from UFF. She was a Visiting Researcher at De Montfort University, England, and at Vanderbilt University, United States, and has been a collaborating researcher at CES, Portugal, since 2007. She works at the Instituto de Arte e Comunicação Social (IACS), in the Department of Art at UFF, and is a lecturer and collaborating researcher in the Postgraduate Programme in Sociology and Law (PPGSD/UFF). She has extensive experience in public policy, governance and social participation, both as a public administrator and as an academic researcher, and coordinates LADER, the Laboratory of Public Policy, Governance and Regional Development/CNPq. Her research lies in the field of Urban and Regional Planning, bringing together public policy, territorial governance and participatory visual methodologies such as photography and Photovoice, in applied studies devoted to the analysis of urban and regional contexts.Amateur photographer, professional observer.
