January 24, 2026, 18h00

Teatro da Cerca de São Bernardo (Coimbra)

Documentary based on the series of reports Racismo em Português II. Colonos em Angola e Moçambique. Retornados em Portugal [Racism in Portuguese II Settlers in Angola and Mozambique.Retornados in Portugal], on what was an ‘unwritten apartheid’ of the colonial system, racial violence, and the shock of returning. This is the second part of the series Racismo em Português-o lado esquecido do colonialismo [Racism in Portuguese - the forgotten side of colonialism], a 2015 investigation by Joana Gorjão Henriques on racism in the colonial period and its continuity in the present. After focusing on the colonised perspective in the first series, the second series combines collective history with the memories and reflections of those who were colonists: Aurora Duarte, Álvaro Vasconcelos, David Borges, David Luna de Carvalho, Dulce Maria Cardoso, José Gil, and Rute Magalhães.

Screening of the documentary followed by a debate with the director, Joana Gorjão Henriques, moderated by Silvia Rodríguez Maeso (CES)
