Synopsis
This book deals with Oral Tradition Literature in its various expressions: tales, fables, poetry, songs, anecdotes and other types or ways of telling whose origin goes back to when speech was the dominant form of communication. A literature where today multiple voices echo, since it has been recreated in different contexts of times, places and instruments.

Covered here are topics already mentioned such as collection, research and cataloguing of tales and poetry from oral tradition, the analysis of thematic tales from our tradition and their comparison with similar tales from other origins, the reflections on the approach of themes that have always been essential in the life of humankind, in what is called major art and minor art. And, because oral literature is expressed through words spoken and recited, but also through words sung, here too we talk about the Cante Alentejo [Alentejo Hymn]. The relevance of oral and digital communication with regard to oral literature is thus another theme.

Contrary to what one might suppose, the content of the work does not convey any antagonism between oral and digital forms of communication, since a wise management of the different resources, desirable in all respects in today's world, can make them not exclude each other, but rather reinforce each other. In these times of pandemic, we have seen how this has revealed itself not only as something important, but even fundamental. The title thus aims, and merely, to stress that there is a place for both forms: if there is time to look at a screen, there is also time to look at each other and to practice the important exercise of listening. That is why this book is about "conversations".
