Seminar #1 | Self-management in debate(s)

The historical perspective of self-management

Cláudio Nascimento (Educador Popular)

May 17, 2021, 14h00 (GMT +01:00)

Online event

If the term "self-management" appeared in the 1950s to qualify the economic system installed in Tito's Yugoslavia, the notion carries with it a long trajectory of struggles for social emancipation. From the Paris Commune of 1871 to the recent worker-recuperated companies, self-management has been both a practice of liberation and a theory proposing an economic, social and political democracy. In this inaugural session, Cláudio Nascimento will present the historical trajectory of self-management, through the notion of cycles.
