Marcos Silva
Biography
Marcos Silva is a psychologist with a master's degree in Educational Psychology and a doctorate in Social Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra, within the thematic line "Democracy, Justice and Human Rights". He is developing the project "Anti-racist TikTok trends: a study of narratives of combating racism in football on the TikTok platform". He was a member of the Politics project - "The politics of (anti)racism in Europe and Latin America: knowledge production, political decision-making and collective struggles" (ERC-Consolidator Grant, 2017-2023), based at CES/UC. In this context, she investigated the main currents and approaches to the study of racism and colonialism in undergraduate courses in social sciences and humanities at public universities, analyzing how curricular debates relate to political issues in national and regional contexts, in collaboration with Latin American universities such as the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and the National University of San Marcos (Peru). She currently collaborates on the project "The presence of women in legal education in Brazil from a gender and race perspective (2001-2021)," linked to the University of Brasília (UnB/CNPq). Her research interests encompass ethnic-racial relations, including topics such as race, racism, anti-racism, youth, higher education curriculum, and football. Among her volunteer experiences, she has conducted workshops in sports associations on racism and football with young players in Portugal, as well as workshops on career choices for young people within the "CES Goes to School" extension program of the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra. Furthermore, he participates as a collaborating professor at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Lima, Peru), the Faculty of Sciences and Letters - Araraquara Campus (Unesp), and the Higher School of Education of Coimbra, Portugal.
