Teresa Almeida Cravo
Biography
Teresa Almeida Cravo is a Researcher at the Centre for Social Studies, within the Research Group 3: Europe and the Global South - Heritages and Dialogues, and an Associate Professor with Habilitation in International Relations at the Faculty of Economics, both at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. She currently serves as the Vice-President of the Scientific Council of the Centre for Social Studies. She holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge. She was awarded a Master of Arts in Peace Studies from Bradford University, in the United Kingdom. She graduated in International Relations from FEUC and completed a postgraduate diploma on Human Rights and Democratization at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra. Teresa has been a Visiting Researcher at the American University in Cairo, Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, the University of Oxford, the University of Westminster in London, and Monash University in Melbourne. She was also an Associate at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, after holding a Predoctoral Fellowship at their International Security Program and the Intrastate Conflict Program. In recent years, she has coordinated the FEUC/CES PhD Programme in International Relations - International Politics and Conflict Resolution, the International Relations Department at FEUC, the undergraduate degree in International Relations (FEUC), the Master programme in International Relations - Peace, Security and Development Studies (FEUC), the Master programme in International Relations (FEUC) and the FEUC/CES PhD Programme "Democracy in the XXIst Century". Her research focuses on critical approaches to peace and violence, security, development, global interventionism, and foreign policy, including empirical work on Portuguese-speaking countries. It draws on a post-structuralist theoretical framework to discuss discourses and representations, and their implications for international politics.
