About

This seminar brings forth a problematisation of the modern concept of reproductive autonomy. The analysis was based on the life experiences of Angolan women who chose not to have children, accompanied by the research of the Nigerian sociologist Oyèrónkẹ Oyěwùmí and the Argentine philosopher Maria Lugones around a post- and decolonial critique of the concept of gender. Thus, the intention is to address the colonial character of both the category of reproductive rights and reproductive autonomy, aiming to ensure the protection and guarantee of the right to reproductive health (as well-being), regardless of world geopolitics, skin colour, economic conditions, ethnicity, religious status, sexual orientation, etc.
