Journalists' Club bestows Diana Andringa with national journalism's highest distinction

The Gazeta de Mérito Award was given to Diana Andringa, a journalist with a long and multifaceted career, which began in the press in the 1960s and was consolidated in television, working for RTP, from 1978 onwards. Holder of several awards, she was joint editor-in-chief of Diário de Lisboa, deputy director of RTP1 Current Affairs and of RTP2, as well as president of the Board of the Journalists' Union.

This distinction, awarded by the Journalists' Club with the support of Lisbon City Council, as part of the Gazeta Awards 2019-2020, is considered the highest distinction in national journalism and was granted taking into account Diana Andringa's long and multifaceted career.

Diana Andringa, who in 2013 gained a PhD in Sociology of Communication, in addition to being a journalist, is a researcher at the Trauma Observatory of the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra.
